DCPS Device Repair Information

As a reminder:

It is my intention to keep as many Chromebooks working as possible, so getting one repaired is not contingent on collecting the cost from students. Elementary schools should send in work orders for repairs as usual. The middle and high schools will work through their building techs. When a tech gets a work order he/she will repair them on-site, swap them for a working model or take them for repair. The tech will repair broken devices and doesn't get involved with deciding the cause or collecting any money. The school administration will decide whether to charge the cost of the repair to the student. If the school collects money for repairs they reimburse my budget by sending the money to Julia Hobbs, allowing the district to continue to purchase the parts necessary to keep Chromebooks running.

Treat each issue, case by case. The district will absorb the cost of most wear and tear and accidental damage (like, my dog jumped in my lap and knocked the laptop on the floor). We'll leave to the school to tell us when it was intentional or negligent damage (like oops, I left it on the back porch overnight and it rained) and then assign an appropriate cost.
